Turning and load factor

(Principles of flight: turning and load factor)

To turn, you must pull the aeroplane out of a straight line, and that takes a force directed towards the centre of the turn. A wing only makes one force, lift, so the trick is to tilt it. Banking points part of the lift sideways to bend the flightpath, but doing so has consequences that run all the way to the stall, which is why turning deserves its own section.
