Wind star

One wind, every leg. Enter the forecast wind (F214 spot wind) and your TAS: the star shows groundspeed all round the compass, and the legs table gives the heading to steer.

Each spoke is a track: the top figure at its tip is your groundspeed along it, the one below the drift (R means steer right of track). The dashed ring is TAS 90 kt, the magenta arrow the wind (240/20), giving a max drift of 13°.

Legs

Add each leg of your route to read off heading, drift and time.

Headings are °T at the TAS entered: apply variation for a compass heading, and remember the forecast wind is an average. The theory lives in the triangle of velocities in the Navigation study guide.
